"The gate appears to work well unfortunately I can't say the same for the finish. The gate was shipped with damage and to make things worse someone tried to repair it they could have at least used the same colour stain"

"I bought two gates for the top and bottom of my stairs. Very sturdy and the wood and metal goes well with the banisters. The only drawback for me is the door in the gate is only 19 wide which makes navigating it with a baby/toddler in hand a little challenging. All in all though works well for my stairs and serves the purpose."

"SHORT AND SWEET REVIEW - Beautiful gate. Fairly easy to install but a bit tricky to open and requires even more coordination to close (but you get used to the locking mechanism after a few days). Its a good height and I feel that my daughter is safer now that we have it. DETAILED REVIEW - Bought this about a week ago. At first it felt a bit awkward opening and closing it. I was contemplating returning it but wanted to give it a fair chance. Took about 3 days to start getting used to the locking mechanism. Keep in mind this is my first and only baby gate so I don't have much to go on but the pushing with my thumb while simultaneously pulling up took some getting used to. I'm still getting used to the coordination required to close the gate since it must be placed perfectly into the slot when closing. Manipulating this gate one-handed takes some practice but its doable. All a bit annoying but when I put things into perspective and think if it's not easy for me off the bat it'll be that more difficult for my very clever 8 month old to ever figure out how to unlock this thing or even have the strength and coordination to do so. Also be careful going in and out. My mother has tripped over the base a couple of times forgetting its there. It's only been a week so I'm sure it'll eventually become second nature to raise her feet as she enters/exit. Aesthetically this gate looks custom made. It matches my dark hardwood floors almost perfectly and the metallic grey plays off well with the colour of the wooden walk-through. Installation was fairly easy. Did so outside of my daughter's room door as she slept. No tools required (except for the little tightening thingamajig that was included). Just spin to tighten Et Voilà !Another selling point for me was it's height. The higher the better since my daughter is tall for her age and very strong (able to pull up her body weight). In summary all that said I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this gate since it feels very secure."
